“Before the fight with Gatji, we worked out preparations for a knockout” – Fiziev’s sparring partner

Ilya Freimanov, sparring partner of UFC fighter Rafael Fiziev, told RB Sport that he worked out preparations for a knockout with an Azerbaijani fighter in preparation for the fight with American Justin Gaethje.
Fiziev (12-1) will face Gaethje in London at UFC 286 in the co-main event of the evening, Leon Edwards and Kamaru Usman will compete for the UFC welterweight championship belt in the main event of the tournament.
– Was special attention paid to the attacking fight in Rafael’s camp? Any plans to use it?
– Working with me is just a stand. There was very little fighting between us. Rafa already has a large arsenal, and specifically, we worked out preparations for a knockout with him. And so Rafa worked and is working with wrestling coach Frank Hickman. So they just worked both under attack and under defense – on all options. Stylistically, it’s a two-punch fight, but it’s likely that Gaethje will want to try leg passes. It is unlikely that he will succeed, and the fight will continue in the standing position.
– Do you have any understanding of the battle plan?
– I will not advertise, and I don’t know a specific plan for the fight. I can only say that it is planned ahead of schedule.
– What do you see as the main gaps in Justin?
– Justin’s main problem is the technical aspect, but this is both a plus and a minus. His danger is in his hands – he beats overhands well. But Rafael’s legs cancel it all out. If the opponent kicks well, then no boxer will be able to work well. Gaethje still dodges a lot, I think it will be his mistake, he will just grab his knee. Let’s see who can impose his fight.
– What is your final forecast?
– In general, this is the fight of Rafael. I think he will come out focused and relaxed, finish the fight ahead of schedule. All preparations are made, it remains to carry it out in a duel.

SOSNOVSKY: “What changes depending on which flag the Russians will demonstrate under?”

Ukraine’s head coach in boxing Dmitry Sosnovsky He commented on the decision of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to admit Russians and Belarusians to the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris under a neutral flag.
“My opinion is clear; Russians should not be allowed to participate in the Olympic Games. As long as Russia is an aggressive country, as long as it kills our people, our athletes. I think the world is very cruel and wrong. It’s not clear to me what they’re doing. These excuses that they are not guilty… They have no excuse. They are all guilty, all their nations. There is no good and bad. In my opinion, this decision is absurd and unacceptable. We cannot be neutral with them [спортсмен] or not – they are Russian. What changes depending on which flag they fly? [будут драться]?
Five or six people died in my national adult team alone. And that’s just boxing. How many sports facilities did they destroy? This is unacceptable to me. I boycott everything. I don’t understand when they say “we need medals”. How can we explain this to those who gave their lives today, to those who fought and defended themselves with machine guns?
They contradict themselves. They broke off their relationship with OKB and were subsequently allowed to participate in the Olympic Games. They represent Russia, it doesn’t matter what their flag is. They will not give up the fact that they are Russian.
What will the Ukrainian team do? We have decided not to participate in places where Russians compete in boxing. My position as coach: I will not be in the same room or in the same ring [с россиянами]. If something had changed, I wouldn’t go to these competitions. Personal trainers – I can’t ban them if they want. My perspective hasn’t changed,” Sosnowski said.

Vladimir KLICHKO: “The Russian flag is not white, it is covered in blood”

Former world boxing champion according to WBO, WBA, IBO and IBF Vladimir Klichko He commented on the decision of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to admit Russians and Belarusians to the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris under a neutral flag.
“The IOC decided that Russian and Belarusian athletes will participate in the Olympic Games in Paris under a “neutral” flag. This false neutrality serves to cover up war crimes. The Russian flag is not white, it is covered in blood. This decision discredits the Olympic spirit,” Klitschko said.
It was previously reported that conditions for neutrality included no involvement of security forces and no public support for the war in Ukraine.
The 2024 Olympic Games will take place between July 26 and August 11.
