Klopp: “I didn’t become a bad coach overnight”

Published

Jurgen Klopp has responded to criticism of Liverpool’s form this year and insisted he hasn’t suddenly become a bad manager.

Barely two weeks after their Premier League clash, Brighton and Liverpool meet again on Sunday (29 January) in the third round of the FA Cup.

Commenting on this year’s development of the ‘Reds’, who are 9th with 29 points, Jurgen Klopp responded to the criticism he received and stressed that he had not suddenly become a bad manager.

“Do I like the challenge? I think I said it before Pep said it. That’s why I signed a new contract, to be 100% honest. I knew it was going to be difficult, and yes the last year has been very intense more than what can we expect as who expects to reach all three finals?

I knew it was going to be tough, that’s for sure, but with fewer injuries we’d all agree we could get four or five points more.

It’s not a good season but we’re close to the places that lead to the Champions League and it’s a normal season.

Injuries have complicated it and turned it into poor from average so far. It’s not easy when three important, formative players are injured and you can’t replace them

I’ve said it before, I didn’t become a bad coach overnight. I’m not as good as some people think, but I’m not as bad as some people say. Imagine you see another person here telling you all these things. Imagine if we had won all four trophies and I was on vacation.”

Brighton have released their accounts for the 2021/22 season, revealing the record amount Chelsea have spent to compensate the Seagulls for Graham Potter.

Graham Potter took over as Chelsea manager last September, replacing Thomas Tuchel. In order for the Blues to take over the 47-year-old technician, they had to pay heavily to Brighton, where he was under contract. In order to even get his signature, they had to compensate the Seagulls with a record sum.

From the balance sheet released by Brighton, the amount that Chelsea have taken out of their coffers, which totals 24 million euros, has emerged.

This equalizer is a record in football history. It should be noted that Potter is also well paid by Londoners as he is paid €13 million annually.

Ibrahima Konate has attacked Kylian Mbappe and the France captain’s armband, revealing his Liverpool team-mates have asked him if the Parisian star was being arrogant.

THE Ibrahim Konat spoke in the best terms about his teammate in the French national team, Kylian Mbappe, who will become the new captain of the “Tricolors”, the team announced.

The 23-year-old defender described the Paris star as a “leader” and also mentioned that many consider him arrogant. A view shared by some of his Liverpool team-mates.

“Even if I had a say, it wouldn’t change anything. It’s the coach’s decision, but I’m very happy. Honestly, Kylian deserves it. We are all on board.”he told Eurosport, adding:

“He deserves it with what he did at the World Cup and also with Paris. He’s a very good leader, on and off the pitch.”

He’s a little boy who likes to have a good time and have fun, nothing more. He’s a very nice person. Some may consider him arrogant. That’s something I was also asked about in Liverpool. I say to them: “Are you crazy? He’s such a nice guy.” Of course he’ll be a good leader.”
