Mitchell’s handling of Hames and Gary Rodriguez in the Volos race

As Mitchell plans to fit Hames and Gary Rodriguez into the game plan so he’ll have them available for big playoff games right after the break.
James Rodríguez last played for Olympiacos a month ago. He was in the match against Panaitolikos at “Georgios Karaiskakis” on February 13 in which he scored two goals and had one assist. Since then, he has been sidelined with hamstring problems, causing him to miss the derbies with Panathinaikos and AEK in the league, as well as the previous one against the Yellow-Blacks for the cup at the OPAP Arena.
The Colombia midfielder was keen to come on as a substitute in last Sunday’s derby against AEK in New Philadelphia, but after Olympiacos scored twice in three minutes early in the second half, Mitchell looked to protect him. The veteran footballer is ready to play against Volos in the playoffs opener and then travel to Colombia’s games in Asia against South Korea and Japan.
The question now is how the Spanish coach James will lead. Whether he will have him in the starting XI at Olympiakos in Magnesia or whether he will keep him on the bench and play against him in the game in the second half.
The first option, which seems to be the most common right now, is for Mitchell to play with Fortunis in the “10” position, Kanos on one side of the attack, and Masoura on the other in place of the locked Biel. The second is that Hames plays at “10” and Kanos with Fortounis on the two wings.
In any case, Hames, who has five goals and six assists for Olympiakos, will be given playing time in the game at Panthessalikos as his manager wants him ready, strong and with pace in the upcoming league derbies.
The case of Gary Rodriguez
He wants to do something similar with him Gary Rodriguez. The Cape Verde international has to play with the Piraeus team for a month.
The 32-year-old winger was only injured (he suffered a contusion) in the third minute of play in Lamia on 19 February (meaning he hardly played) and he has had to play regularly, like Hames, since the game against Panaitolikos a week ago. Simply different from the Colombian, the African had played a few days earlier in the cup game against AEK, in which he scored two goals.
Gary Rodriguez is expected to be on the bench and coming on as a substitute during the game in Volos. Finally, Mitchell has Kanos and Masoura in better shape at the moment, while Butucci and Brusai are also available.
