The facts about Embilas and the two sides in the Guillerme and Milivojevic cases

Published

on

The case of Ian Embilas is one of the two salient points in the existing Olympiakos squad, with the ‘Red-Whites’ making a concrete proposal to him. What are the facts about Guillerme and Milivojevic?

Two of Olympiacos’ current player contract renewal cases are those of Cedric Bakabou and Yann Embila.

As we reported, the Red and Whites have presented the Congolese center forward with a concrete offer for a new two-year contract with a total salary of 2.5 million euros and are waiting for his answer.

The Bakabu representative has taken blows from teams from Spain, France, Qatar and Saudi Arabia and will soon clear the landscape. Both sides are keen to continue their cooperation and Olympiacos are happy with the African footballer but the latter also with the Piraeus side and the conditions in Greece so there will be developments soon.

Proposal for a two-year contract for Embilas

Regarding Embilas, the Red and Whites reportedly made the player an offer to extend his contract for another two years. The veteran France centre-back has taken his time to reply while his manager is said to be in touch with teams from Qatar and Saudi Arabia.

According to the same information, the Arabs are offering Embilas good money and it’s up to him whether he wants to stay in Europe or take the next step and aim for a better contract as he turns 33 in a month.

If the Frenchman doesn’t continue at Olympiakos and Samasekou returns to Hoffenheim when his loan expires, the Piraeus side will need to sign two potentially crucial central midfielders in the summer transfer window. Or even one when Maddy Camara returns from Rome to stay. Who will become the new central midfielder will be decided jointly by Cordon, the new coach and the Piraeus PAE administration.

The scenarios for Guillerme and Milivojevic

Scenarios have been developed over the past twenty-four hours regarding former red-whites Guillermo and Milivojevic being sacked by Al Sadd and Crystal Palace. As in similar cases, the coin has two sides. Some are positive about such a prospect, others still think that Olympiacos should try something new.

Guillermo, 32, had two successful seasons with the Reds and Whites (79 appearances, 11 goals, four assists) and was sold to Al Sadd for €6,000,000 at the end of August 2020. The Brazilian midfielder played there for three seasons (91 games, six goals, six assists) and is now looking for the next step in his career with individual training during this time in his home country. Guillerme is said to have received blows from teams from Spain and Brazil.

Milivojevic, 32, played 2.5 seasons at Olympiakos (94 games, 15 goals, seven assists) and was loaned out to Crystal Palace in January 2017 for €15,000,000. The Serbian midfielder played 6.5 seasons at the English club, during which he became captain (198). Appearances, 29 goals, six assists) and is now preparing for the next step. According to reports in his home country, Milivojevic is being targeted by Red Star, who will take part in the Champions League groups.

Based on the data so far, it looks like Cordon and the new manager are taking a different route when it comes to signings as they look to lower the average age in the squad. Of course, you never say never in football, because there is no shortage of upheaval in the transfer window.
