Lucescu recalled Mourinho’s historic handcuffed gesture in the derby final against Panathinaikos

Razvan Lucescu showed his discomfort with the refereeing in the derby with Panathinaikos not only through his statements, but also through a characteristic gesture of his at the end of the game, in which he imitated Mourinho’s historic gesture from 2010.
In the final of the derby in Leoforo on Matchday 7 of the Stoiximan Super League, Panathinaikos and PAOK drew 2-2 in a satisfying game that was decided by Geremeev’s goal at 90+6 minutes.
This development sparked a strong reaction from Razvan Lucescu, who spoke out strongly against the referee in his comments to the Cosmote television camera, but this was not the only time he expressed strong discomfort with the referee’s whistles.
He did this in a different, more inventive way, because when the game was over, he raised his fists so that it looked like he was wearing handcuffs. The specific gesture referred to a protest by Jose Mourinho against refereeing decisions that left the era behind.

Mourinho showed the handcuffs in 2010
He took part in a Serie A game in 2009/10 when he coached Inter Milan in their treble-winning season. The Nerazzurri stuck with it when Walter Samuel and Ivan Cordoba were red-carded in the crucial home draw against Sampdoria and the Special One in exactly the same gesture that Lucescu made on the Avenue 13 years later.
A move that was interpreted at the time as a way from Mourinho’s side to show that Inter were a victim of the referees, with the Portuguese explaining at the time after the specific gesture:
“I’m not burying my head in the sand, I know that there is only one team in Italy where the opponent’s space is 25 meters.” A statement that was then linked to a penalty taken on behalf of Juventus by Alessandro Del Piero outside the penalty area.
