The Football Associations of Argentina and Mexico have publicly expressed support for Gianni Infantino to be re-elected as FIFA president. The backing comes at a time when Infantino has lost the confidence of most European federations, including the Greek Football Federation.
The Argentine Football Association sent a letter to Infantino and the FIFA Council on behalf of the organization and its Executive Committee. In the letter, the association stated that Infantino deserves recognition for withdrawing a project to sell 20 percent of World Cup commercial rights. The letter noted that the commercial plan had caused far more uncertainties than certainties within the football community from its inception.
