Peru's women's national volleyball team lost 3-0 to Argentina on Sunday in the second match of their three-game series at the Copa Salta de Vóley 2026, falling by set scores of 30-28, 25-16 and 25-9.

The result meant Peru, coached by Antonio Rizola, suffered a second straight 3-0 defeat to Argentina after also losing the opening match of the series 3-0 on Saturday, August 22. Argentina are led by coach Facundo Morando.
How the match unfolded
The first set was the tightest of the night. Peru built an early lead, going up 12-8 and later 18-12, before Argentina clawed back to level at 25-25. Peru then edged ahead 24-23 and held a set point, but Argentina fought it off to win the set 30-28.
Peru led again early in the second set, 6-4, and the teams were tied 10-10 midway through. Argentina then pulled away, going up 22-11 and closing out the set 25-16.
Argentina dominated the third set from the start, racing to a 10-0 lead, extending it to 16-4 and then 24-7 before sealing the match 25-9.
Preparing for the South American Championship
Peru's squad has been using the series against Argentina to prepare for its upcoming participation in the South American Championship, according to the broadcast of the match.
The two teams had also met in a friendly the day before the second match, with Argentina winning 3-0 as well.
Three friendlies at the Microestadio Delmi
Peru and Argentina agreed to play three friendlies at the Microestadio Delmi, a venue with capacity for more than 3,000 spectators. The first match, on Saturday, August 22, ended in a 3-0 result. The second was played on Sunday, August 23, at 5:00 p.m. local time. A third and final match is scheduled for Monday, August 24, at 2:00 p.m.
