Arsenal midfielder Myles Lewis-Skelly has been offered to both Chelsea and Manchester United following the Gunners' capture of Bruno Guimaraes.
The 19-year-old signed a new contract last year after a breakout season, but limited minutes during Arsenal's Premier League title-winning campaign have led to a belief the champions may be willing to sell him. There has been fresh contact with both the Blues and United, among other Premier League clubs assessing a move for the versatile player.
Lewis-Skelly's playing time could shrink further next season after Guimaraes completed a £75million move from Newcastle last week. Chelsea are understood to have long held an interest in Lewis-Skelly, though it is unclear whether they will make an offer.
The Hale End product started 19 matches in all competitions last season, before manager Mikel Arteta gave him a fresh role in central midfield late in the campaign, which led to a start in the Champions League final defeat to Paris Saint-Germain.
Guimaraes and midfield competition
Guimaraes has signed a four-year deal with the option of a further 12 months, adding to an Arsenal midfield that already includes Declan Rice, Martin Zubimendi and Mikel Merino. A move to Chelsea would bring further competition, with the Blues fielding Moises Caicedo, Enzo Fernandez, Romeo Lavia, Dario Essugo, Valentin Barco and Jordan Henderson. Fernandez has himself been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea had previously targeted Granit Xhaka, the 33-year-old Sunderland captain who worked under new Chelsea boss Xabi Alonso at Bayer Leverkusen, but could not prise him from the Stadium of Light. The club has already made several signings this summer, bringing in Maxence Lacroix from Crystal Palace and Morgan Rogers for £117million from Aston Villa.
Lewis-Skelly's rise at Arsenal
Lewis-Skelly has made 75 senior appearances for Arsenal and won a Premier League winner's medal last season. He began his career at left-back, making his name in Arsenal's Champions League quarter-final win over Real Madrid in 2025, before returning to his preferred central midfield role.
He has started every Arsenal pre-season game so far, two of which the club has lost, but is expected to be moved on once Rice and Guimaraes return to full fitness.
