Football fans in Colombia clashed violently on Sunday, forcing riot police to intervene during a Colombian top-flight match between Jaguares de Córdoba and Atlético Nacional.

Play was suspended in the first half at the Estadio Jaraguay in Montería, a city in northern Colombia, after supporters became embroiled in a brawl. Footage from the match showed fans ripping out seats and throwing them at each other before riot police rushed in. The referee halted the game, and both sets of players were taken into the dressing rooms during the suspension.

At the time, Atlético Nacional had raced into a three-goal lead. Marlon Moreno scored in the 7th minute, Andrés Sarmiento in the 19th, and former Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos added a third in the 32nd.

An estimated 2,000 supporters fled onto the pitch to escape the trouble, according to footage shared on social media. It was widely reported that the trouble involved Atlético Nacional fans, who were the away side, fighting among themselves.
