Bournemouth demolished Genoa 10-1 in a preseason friendly played without fans in the stands, in an unusual format of four 30-minute periods instead of two halves.
Alex Scott opened the scoring for the hosts in the first period. Genoa equalized through Mikael Egill Ellertsson, but Bournemouth then took full control. Justin Kluivert converted two penalties before the end of the second period, and Adrien Truffert also scored, putting Bournemouth 4-1 up after 60 minutes.
Bournemouth extended their lead after the break. Scott netted his second goal, and Daniel Jebbison scored with a header from Adam Smith's cross, making it 7-1 after the third period.
Late goals complete the rout
Bournemouth kept up the pace in the final period. Malcolm Dacosta Gonzalez added an eighth goal, and Enes Unal scored twice to seal the 10-1 final score.
Bournemouth next travel to Seville to face Real Betis on Saturday, August 8.
