Sporting Clube de Braga's Primeira Liga match against Gil Vicente on Saturday was postponed following a gastrointestinal outbreak in the Braga squad.

The Portuguese Professional Football League announced that the fixture at the Estádio Municipal de Braga was called off by mutual agreement of both clubs, with a new date and kickoff time to be arranged later.
The second matchday fixture in Portugal's top flight had originally been scheduled to kick off at 8:30 pm on Saturday evening before the health issue affected the home team.
In an official statement, the league governing body confirmed that both sporting societies had reached a common agreement to reschedule the match, noting that revised details would be decided in due course.
Minho regional derby postponed
Both Sporting Clube de Braga and Gil Vicente FC are based in the Minho region of northern Portugal. Sporting de Braga play their home fixtures at the quarry-built Estádio Municipal de Braga, while Gil Vicente are based in nearby Barcelos.
The I Liga, officially known as the Primeira Liga, is the highest tier of the Portuguese professional football league system. The competition is overseen by the Liga Portuguesa de Futebol Profissional, which manages scheduling and governance for top-flight matches.
Impact of squad gastrointestinal outbreak
Gastrointestinal outbreaks, commonly caused by viral or bacterial infections of the stomach and digestive tract, can spread rapidly within professional sports squads due to shared facilities and close contact.
With the Saturday night contest called off, the Portuguese league and both clubs will now work to determine a suitable alternative date in the fixture calendar for the rescheduled match.
