Portugal international winger Bruma has left Benfica to sign for Greek club Aris Salónica, ending an 18-month spell at the Lisbon giants. The 31-year-old returns to Greece, where he previously played for Olympiacos during the 2020/21 season.

Aris Salónica confirmed the signing on social media. Bruma spent much of last season recovering from a serious injury and now departs the squad coached by Marco Silva.

Writing on Instagram, Bruma said he was saying goodbye to Benfica with the same honour and pride with which he had arrived at the Estádio da Luz a year and a half earlier. He said the past 18 months had been an unforgettable story, recalling the excitement he built from his second game, when he scored in the Azores, along with the incredible support of the fans, the fantastic atmosphere at the Estádio da Luz and the people he spent time with every day at Seixal, Benfica's training ground.

Move from Braga and Benfica contract

Benfica signed Bruma from Sporting Braga during the winter 2024/25 transfer window for 6.5 million euros. He had a contract with the Lisbon club, known as the 'eagles', running until June 2028.

Bruma said he would now follow a different professional path, but that he would always remember with enormous pride having belonged to the Benfica family. He thanked the fans and everyone he worked with at the club, and singled out president Rui Costa, who he said had always stood by him from the moment he arrived to the moment of his departure.

Portugal caps and career abroad

The forward, who came through Sporting's youth academy, has 12 caps for the Portugal national team, with two goals scored. He made his international debut in 2017 and his most recent appearance in 2024.

Over the course of his career, Bruma has also played for Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe in Turkey, Real Sociedad in Spain, Leipzig in Germany and PSV in the Netherlands.
