Catalina Coll has been named the best women's goalkeeper in the world at the 2026 Ballon d'Or ceremony in London.
The Spanish international, who plays for Barcelona, collected the Women's Yashin Trophy for the first time in her career on Monday at the annual gala organised by France Football magazine.
Coll joins England goalkeeper Hannah Hampton as a winner of the women's award, following an outstanding season for both club and country.
Domestic league and Champions League statistics
Coll enjoyed a remarkably consistent 2025-26 campaign for Barcelona, establishing herself as an essential figure for the Catalan side. In Spain's top division, Liga F, the goalkeeper made 17 appearances, conceded only six goals, and kept 11 clean sheets. Those numbers demonstrated her security and consistency between the posts as Barcelona retained control of the domestic championship.
She also played an important role in continental competition during the Women's Champions League, featuring in 11 matches and conceding eight goals. Her quick reactions, positional awareness, and quality when playing out from the back were vital to Barcelona's defensive system, particularly during the most demanding fixtures of the European tournament.
Silverware haul and overall season record
Her performances between the posts helped Barcelona secure four major honours during the 2025-26 season. With Coll as a regular presence, the club completed a sweep of trophies by winning the Spanish league title, the Women's Champions League, the Spanish Cup, and the Spanish Super Cup.
Across the entire season for Barcelona and the Spanish national team, Coll played 39 matches and accumulated 3,510 minutes on the pitch. She conceded only 18 goals across those recorded competitions, cementing her position among the standout goalkeepers in women's football.
History of the Yashin Trophy
The Yashin Trophy is presented annually by France Football alongside the Ballon d'Or to recognise the best goalkeeper in world football. First introduced for men in 2019, the accolade was later expanded to include women's football. The award is named in honour of the late Soviet Union goalkeeper Lev Yashin, who remains the only goalkeeper ever to win the main Ballon d'Or accolade in 1963.
Coll's victory caps off a dominant year for Barcelona, who maintained their position at the pinnacle of European football by combining domestic league supremacy with continental success.
