Former Toulouse Football Club defender Charlie Cresswell has joined Stade Rennais in early August, reuniting with Adrien Thomasson following their heated on-field altercations last season. The Breton club organized and filmed a lighthearted reconciliation session between the two players to mark the transfer.
Cresswell moved to Rennes for a fee of 25 million euros, marking the second largest sale in the history of Toulouse Football Club. His departure ends his spell with the Pink City club, where he previously faced off against Thomasson during a tense Ligue 1 matchday 17 encounter at the Stadium on January 4.

During the January match, Thomasson was playing for Lens when he and teammate Florian Thauvin engaged in multiple altercations with Cresswell. After Rennes announced the signing of Cresswell in early August, football fans quickly resurfaced videos of the on-field dispute across social media platforms.
Stade Rennais capitalized on the viral moment by arranging a peaceful meeting between the former opponents on Wednesday, August 5. Footage released by the club shows Cresswell waiting patiently in a room as Thomasson enters, with Thomasson proposing that the two men make peace. The players then shook hands and acknowledged that they are now teammates on the same squad.
The club published the video online with a message welcoming two new brothers in arms in Red and Black. Thauvin, who was the third player involved in the January match incidents, joined the comments section to ask where his own reconciliation was, adding a laughing emoji to show he held no hard feelings.
