Chornomorets Odesa Training Base Hit in Russian Attack

Ukrainian football club Chornomorets Odesa had its Lustdorf training facility heavily damaged during an overnight Russian attack in the Odesa suburbs. The club confirmed the strike destroyed parts of the complex and forced the cancellation of scheduled weekend matches.

No injuries were reported among staff or players at the site. Chornomorets said the team, coaching staff, and support personnel had departed on a train for an away fixture in the Ukrainian Cup shortly before the strike occurred.

The damaged facility, located in the Sovinyon area of the suburban district, is officially known as the Lustdorf sports and health complex. Club officials said workers have begun clearing debris at the site while experts work to evaluate the full financial extent of the destruction.

Cup matches and previous stadium damage

The base was scheduled to host two matches in the 1/32 round of the Ukrainian Cup over the weekend. Club representatives stated that all football activities at the facility have been halted for the immediate future, adding that the attack ruined civilian infrastructure before full damage totals could even be calculated.

The strike follows an earlier attack on August 7, when Russian forces targeted central Odesa. That strike hit the main Chornomorets Stadium in Taras Shevchenko Central Park of Culture and Leisure, injuring several people and causing extensive structural damage to the roof, spectator stands, and windows of the 34,000-seat arena.

Club officials also noted that the Lustdorf complex was previously struck in February 2025, marking the second time the suburban training facility has suffered damage during the war.
