Peruvian club Cienciano will face Uruguayan side Montevideo City Torque in the quarter-finals of the Copa Sudamericana, with the opening leg scheduled for Thursday, September 10 in Cusco.
The first-leg clash will take place at the Estadio Inca Garcilaso de la Vega, kicking off at 7.30 p.m. local time, before the tie concludes in Montevideo the following week.
Cienciano have reached the last eight of South America's secondary club competition for the first time in 23 years. Head coach Horacio Melgarejo has guided the team through a remarkable knockout run, eliminating reigning champions Lanus of Argentina as well as Brazilian giants Botafogo to set up the quarter-final tie.
The Cusco-based team, popular among local supporters known as imperial fans, holds a memorable position in Peruvian football history. Cienciano remain the only club from Peru to win a major CONMEBOL international trophy after lifting the Copa Sudamericana title in 2003. Fans in the historic Andean city have waited more than two decades to see their club return to the quarter-finals of the tournament.
Montevideo City Torque enter the series as the surprise packages of this year's competition. The Uruguayan side, who became part of the global City Football Group network in 2017, will be meeting Cienciano for the first time in international competition.
Second leg venue and international kickoff times
The decisive second leg will be played one week later on Thursday, September 17. That return fixture will take place at the Estadio Centenario in Montevideo, the historic venue that famously hosted the inaugural FIFA World Cup final in 1930.
Kickoff for the first leg in Cusco is set for 7.30 p.m. local time in Peru, as well as in neighboring Colombia and Ecuador. Supporters watching in Uruguay, Argentina, Brazil, and Paraguay can follow the action starting at 9.30 p.m.
In Bolivia, Chile, Venezuela, and the eastern United States, including Miami, New York, and Washington D.C., the match begins at 8.30 p.m. Fans in Costa Rica and Mexico can tune in from 6.30 p.m., while viewers in Spain will see kickoff at 2.30 a.m. on the morning of Friday, September 11.
Live television coverage of the quarter-final fixture across the region will be broadcast on ESPN and DSports, the official channels holding transmission rights for the Copa Sudamericana. Ticket information and stadium seating
Cienciano have confirmed ticket pricing and availability for supporters attending the first leg at the Estadio Inca Garcilaso de la Vega. Ticket prices range from 15 to 150 Peruvian soles, with supporters able to purchase tickets through the Joinnus digital platform.
Children's tickets are priced at 15 soles. General admission tickets for the South Stand (Sur) cost 30 soles, while entry for the North Stand (Norte) is set at 35 soles. Seating in the East Stand (Oriente) is priced at 50 soles, and tickets for the West Stand (Occidente) are available for 150 soles.
The match in Cusco will be played at high altitude, with the Estadio Inca Garcilaso de la Vega situated more than 3,400 meters above sea level. Cienciano will aim to capitalize on home advantage in the Andes before traveling south to Montevideo to decide which team advances to the semi-finals.
