Meanwhile, Internacional held firm during a visit to Corinthians, eliminating the hosts from the competition and ending their target of a second cup title while depriving them of prize earnings.
Vitória, also known as Leão da Barra, is the only quarter-finalist seeking a first Copa do Brasil trophy after finishing as runner-up to Santos FC in 2010. Santos FC and Internacional, often called Colorado, have each won the title once, with Internacional waiting for a championship since 1992. Vasco da Gama also won its single title in 2011.

Two of the three most successful clubs in tournament history remain in contention for the title. Six-time champions Cruzeiro (1993, 1996, 2000, 2003, 2017, 2018) are trying to become seven-time winners and secure their first trophy since 2018. Five-time winners Grêmio (1989, 1994, 1997, 2001, 2016) hope to end a championship drought dating back to 2016, alongside five-time winners Flamengo (1990, 2006, 2013, 2022, 2024).
Current Brasileirão leader Palmeiras (1998, 2012, 2015, 2020) can reach a fifth victory after last lifting the trophy in 2020. Atlético-MG (2014, 2021) is aiming for a third title, while Corinthians (1995, 2002, 2009, 2025) missed out after winning four previous trophies. Other past winners include São Paulo (2023), Fluminense (2007), Athletico-PR (2019), Sport (2008), Criciúma (1991), Juventude (1999), Santo André (2004), and Paulista (2005). The draw for the quarter-final matches will take place on Tuesday, August 11, at 11:00 am.
