The Dominican Republic senior men's national basketball team has added players Luismal Ferreiras and Chad Baker Mazara to its roster for Monday evening's FIBA World Cup qualifier against Chile at the Arena BanReservas Profesor Virgilio Travieso Soto in Santo Domingo.

Ferreiras and Baker Mazara enter the Dominican squad in place of Ángel Luis Delgado and Luis Santos, joining their new teammates in training on Sunday at the venue ahead of the second phase fixture in the fourth qualifying window for the 2027 World Cup.

Head coach Néstor "Ché" García and general manager Junior Páez announced the roster changes following Sunday's practice session at the arena, which is also known as Casa de Don Virgilio.

The Dominican team holds a 5-2 record in qualifying and is seeking its third consecutive victory when it faces Chile, who enter the game with a 2-5 record, at 8:10 p.m. local time.

The Dominicans are coming off a 90-94 away victory over Brazil on Thursday, August 27, at the Nilson Nelson Gymnasium in Brasilia, which followed a 99-76 home win against Nicaragua in Santo Domingo on Monday, July 6.

Roster details and scoring leaders

Alongside Ferreiras and Baker Mazara, the Dominican squad for Monday's game features Jean Montero and Andrés Feliz, who led the team against Brazil with 30 and 24 points respectively.

Center Joel Soriano also forms part of the lineup after recording 13 points and nine rebounds in the win over Brazil, alongside David Jones, Andersson García, Juan Guerrero, Jhery Matos, Ángel Núñez, Richard Bautista, and Luis David Montero.

The match will be broadcast live across the Dominican Republic on Teleuniverso Canal 29 and streamed online through FAIA Sports and its official YouTube channel.

Americas qualifying standings

The Dominican Republic, Chile, and Brazil (6-1) compete in Group E alongside Mexico (4-3), Colombia (3-4), and the United States (6-1). Group F comprises Canada (6-0), Argentina (6-1), Uruguay (5-2), Bahamas (3-4), Panama (2-4), and Puerto Rico (2-5).

Under FIBA qualification rules, the top three teams from Group E and Group F, along with the best fourth-placed team across both groups, will earn the seven Americas continent berths for the FIBA Basketball World Cup Qatar 2027.

The FIBA Basketball World Cup is the international basketball tournament held every four years by the International Basketball Federation, bringing together top national teams from around the globe.
