The Egyptian national team defeated the Ivory Coast team 3:2 in the quarterfinals of the Africa Cup of Nations to reach the semifinals. The victory makes Egypt the last participant to advance to the semifinal stage of the tournament, which is taking place in Morocco.
Omar Marmush opened the scoring for Egypt in the 4th minute, and Rami Rabia added a second goal in the 32nd minute. Egyptian defender Ahmed Abul-Fetouh scored an own goal in the 40th minute, but Mohamed Salah scored Egypt's third goal in the 52nd minute. Gela Two scored for Ivory Coast in the 73rd minute, but the current tournament winners were unable to equalize.
Semifinal fixtures
The Egyptian team will play against the Senegalese team in the semi-final. In the other semi-final, the national teams of Morocco and Nigeria will meet. Both matches will take place on January 14th.
The tournament features teams from 24 African countries playing in six cities in Morocco. The Africa Cup of Nations will end on January 18th.
