Famalicão drew 0-0 with Gil Vicente to leave manager Carlos Carvalhal winless after four Portuguese Primeira Liga matches on Sunday.

Famalicão winless under Carvalhal after Gil Vicente draw

Famalicão remained without a win under manager Carlos Carvalhal on Sunday after drawing 0-0 at home against Gil Vicente in the Portuguese Primeira Liga.

The result on matchday four leaves Famalicão with two points from two draws and two defeats, while Gil Vicente moved to seven points after dropping their first points of the league campaign.

Carvalhal, an experienced coach who surprisingly accepted the position at Famalicão after the team finished fifth in the 2025-26 season, remains without a league victory. He now faces what has been described as a crucial early-season fixture when his side travels to Estrela da Amadora in their next match. Gil Vicente are managed by Luís Pinto, who won the League Cup last season with Vitória de Guimarães.

Moreirense victory and Puskas contender

Moreirense secured their first victory of the Primeira Liga season with a 1-0 win over Casa Pia in Rio Maior. Left-back Francisco Domingues decided the match in the 24th minute with an extraordinary rabona strike from the edge of the penalty area.

The 24-year-old defender's goal has been highlighted as one of the finest of the league season, positioning him as a candidate for FIFA's Puskas Award. The victory lifted Moreirense, based in Moreira de Cónegos, to four points.

Casa Pia remain bottom of the table as the only team in the division without a point or a goal scored, having conceded 11 goals across four matches. Head coach Filipe Coelho is enduring a nightmare start in his first senior management role, following earlier coaching spells in the youth system at Benfica, the under-23 team at Estoril, Chelsea's under-21 team, and as an assistant manager at Strasbourg.

Estrela da Amadora win five-goal thriller

Estrela da Amadora earned their first win of the campaign with a 3-2 victory over Nacional in Funchal, Madeira. The result arrived in the same week that Estrela's corporate entity, the SAD, was acquired by a German investment group.

Brazilian forward Wesley Gasolina gave Nacional the lead in the third minute before Romanian attacker Ianis Stoica equalized for Estrela da Amadora from the penalty spot in first-half stoppage time.

Nigerian winger Marcus restored Estrela's advantage in the 62nd minute, but Brazilian player Pablo Ruan leveled for Nacional four minutes later. Puerto Rican forward Antonetti struck the winning goal for Estrela da Amadora in the 83rd minute.

Estrela da Amadora moved to five points, having previously recorded 2-2 draws against Sporting and Alverca, alongside an unplayed fixture against Sporting de Braga. Nacional remain on four points.

Upcoming Primeira Liga fixtures

Matchday four concludes on Monday evening with two fixtures, including the Minho derby between Sporting de Braga and Vitória de Guimarães, alongside Benfica hosting Estoril.
