FC Porto Marks One Year Since Death of Jorge Costa

FC Porto has marked one year since the death of former captain and director Jorge Costa with tributes across all club teams. Costa died a year ago after suffering a cardiorespiratory arrest at the club training center.

FC Porto president André Villas-Boas paid tribute to Costa on official club channels. He said that although a year had passed, Costa's presence, example, and legacy would never be erased by time. He added that the club would never forget one of its greatest symbols, noting that some absences cannot be filled and that the importance of certain figures becomes even clearer after they are gone.

Club Tributes and Memorial Mass

Every FC Porto team observed a minute of silence before their respective training sessions. At the start of work, the senior squad placed a floral wreath next to the plaque at the training center entrance, which now bears Costa's name.

Villas-Boas and members of his board later visited Agramonte cemetery. They attended a private ceremony alongside the family of the former defender.

In the late afternoon, the senior squad brought the Supercup trophy to a memorial mass at the Parish Church of Cristo Rei in Foz. FC Porto won the trophy on Saturday against Torreense.

Tribute Jersey and Documentary Announcement

FC Porto also released a special tribute jersey featuring Costa's number 2 on the back.

In addition, the club announced a four-episode documentary titled O Capitão. The series details Costa's life story using unseen footage and more than 50 exclusive interviews. Featured figures include Villas-Boas, José Mourinho, Luís Montenegro, Gianni Infantino, and Pedro Proença.
