FC Porto has confirmed the signing of Mexican international striker Santiago Giménez from AC Milan as part of a major transfer market push on Sunday.

Giménez, a 25-year-old forward, arrived in Porto on Sunday evening to complete a loan move until the end of the season. The transfer agreement includes a mandatory purchase option set at 18 million euros, subject to the player meeting performance objectives.

The striker is scheduled for medical tests on Monday morning and could be presented by the club later in the day. Giménez had been identified as Porto's top attacking target after finding limited playing time at Milan under head coach Ruben Amorim.

FC Porto is a professional football club based in Porto, Portugal, that plays in the top tier Primeira Liga. AC Milan is an Italian Serie A club based in Milan, where manager Amorim took charge after previous coaching stints in Portugal.

Agreement for Gabriel Mec

Porto has also agreed to a deal with Brazilian side Grémio de Porto Alegre for 18-year-old attacking midfielder Gabriel Mec. According to football transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, the transfer fee is set at 10 million euros.

Mec, a Brazil youth international who had been targeted by several major European clubs, has been on Porto's transfer shortlist for a long time before the deal was finalized on Sunday.

Grémio is a Brazilian sports club based in Porto Alegre, competing in Brazil's top division, Serie A. Romano is an Italian journalist known globally for tracking football transfer negotiations.

Offer submitted for Youri Baas

In another transfer move, Dutch news outlet Voetbal International reported that Porto has submitted an official offer to Ajax for central defender Youri Baas. The 23-year-old left-footed defender previously played under current Porto manager Francesco Farioli during Farioli's time managing the Amsterdam club.

AFC Ajax is the most decorated football club in the Netherlands, competing in the Dutch top division, the Eredivisie. Voetbal International is a long-running sports publication covering Dutch football news.

League victory and injury update

The transfer activity comes a day after Porto defeated Académico de Viseu to solidify their position as isolated leaders of the Portuguese league. However, defender Zaidu suffered a right adductor injury during the match victory in Viseu.

Addressing interest from other clubs in Porto's current players, manager Francesco Farioli described FC Porto as an expensive boutique for any suitors seeking to purchase their players.
