Ferran Torres Close to Joining PSG for 50 Million Euros

Spain international striker Ferran Torres is close to joining Paris Saint-Germain from FC Barcelona in a transfer worth 50 million euros during the summer window. Torres scored the winning goal in the World Cup final between Spain and Argentina. His potential departure follows FC Barcelona losing striker Robert Lewandowski earlier this summer.

The 38-year-old Lewandowski left Barcelona after his expiring contract was not extended, signing with American club Chicago Fire a few weeks later. Torres is now set to join Paris Saint-Germain, who have won the Champions League for the past two seasons.

Negotiations between Barcelona and PSG

According to Spanish newspaper Marca, Torres will play for Paris Saint-Germain next season barring a major surprise. Barcelona sports director Deco and Paris Saint-Germain sports director Luis Campos, who are close friends, have been negotiating discreetly for several days. Representatives of the player have informed Barcelona of his desire to move to Paris.

Journalist Luis F. Rojo reported that Torres has agreed to a four-year contract with Paris Saint-Germain, leaving only the final agreement between the two clubs pending. All parties intend to complete the transfer before Wednesday so Torres does not have to return to training with Barcelona. The final transfer fee and potential add-ons remain under negotiation.

During the previous season, Torres made 45 appearances for FC Barcelona across all competitions. He scored 20 goals and provided three assists for the Spanish club.
