Erling Haaland continued his post-World Cup Mediterranean holiday on the French Riviera this week, staying at the Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Antibes, a five-star property previously frequented by F. Scott Fitzgerald, Ernest Hemingway, and Pablo Picasso.
The 26-year-old Manchester City striker was seen leaving the hotel in a white tank top and khaki shorts for what appeared to be a boating excursion. His brother Astor and fashion influencer Samir Kamani were also present, according to the Daily Mail.
The Riviera stop is the latest in a string of destinations for Haaland since Norway reached the World Cup quarterfinals. A week earlier, he attended Manchester City teammate Gianluigi Donnarumma's wedding in Southern Italy with his partner Isabel Haugseng Johansen, where he was later filmed leading guests in Norway's signature "rowing" celebration from the tournament.
Before that, Haaland celebrated his 26th birthday in Sardinia, posting a photo of himself in a Viking helmet alongside the caption "26 years. Nice."
Baby names boom in Peru
On the other side of the world, Haaland's World Cup performances have had an unusual effect in Peru, where more than 500 newborns have been named after the Norwegian striker, according to figures from the country's national registry. Of those, 468 were registered simply as Haaland, 91 as Erling Haaland, and four with his full name, Erling Braut Haaland.
Ivan Torres, a spokesperson for the national registry, told Panamericana TV that different football stars serve as inspiration for Peruvians registering their children's names. He added that registrations surged as Norway advanced in the tournament, joking that "Haaland is Peruvian too."
Despite the surge, Haaland trailed Brazil's Neymar, who topped the list with 33,812 newborns named after him.
Haaland's break is set to end soon. He was permitted to skip City's Asian tour but is expected to rejoin the squad ahead of the Community Shield against Arsenal on August 16 at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff.
