Spanish side Valencia are leading the chase to sign Liverpool winger Harvey Elliott following his difficult loan spell at Aston Villa.
The 23-year-old England U21 international has drawn interest from several European clubs, including Italian Serie A sides Lazio and Napoli. However, Valencia are hopeful of tempting him to move to Spain and link up with coach Carlos Corberan, the former West Bromwich Albion manager.
Liverpool have not yet received an official approach for Elliott, but the Merseyside club are aware of the growing interest in the player. The clubs are currently exploring the possibility of another loan deal.
The potential move comes after Liverpool indicated a willingness to listen to offers for both Elliott and fellow out-of-favour forward Federico Chiesa, as reported by Daily Mail Sport earlier this week.
Neither Elliott nor Chiesa was named in the matchday squad for Liverpool's Premier League opener against Newcastle United last Sunday. The decision came after both players failed to sufficiently impress manager Andoni Iraola during pre-season.
Struggle at Villa Park
Elliott experienced a frustrating 2025-26 season while on loan at Aston Villa in the Premier League. That agreement included an obligation for Villa to buy the winger for £35 million after he played 10 games.
However, Villa manager Unai Emery opted not to select Elliott after just a handful of matches and later acknowledged that the situation had taken a personal toll on the young player.
Elliott made only nine appearances and scored one goal during his spell at Villa Park. Despite his limited playing time, he concluded the season with a UEFA Europa League winner's medal as an unused substitute in the final.
Elliott on mental toll
Speaking during Liverpool's pre-season tour of the United States, Elliott reflected openly on the difficulties he encountered during his time with Aston Villa.
"Mentally, it was a very tough one," Elliott said. "(Going to Villa) was a learning curve. It was an opportunity for me to experience something new."
Despite the lack of playing time, the winger stressed that he harboured no resentment toward the Birmingham club.
"I don't wish (the situation) upon any other player, because it's not nice at all, but I have no hard feelings. I wish them all the very best," he said. "I did really have a lot of love for them. They treated me as one of their own and for that I respect them highly."
Elliott added: "But it was tough, mentally and physically. I'm on the other side of it now. I was able to get through it, and achieve something at the end of the season as well."
