The Porto Alegre team secured their place in the round of eight with a 3-2 aggregate victory, having built a 2-0 advantage in the first leg at Beira-Rio Stadium on Sunday.

Following their qualification, Internacional mocked their rivals on social media by posting a message asking who was denied access to the quarter-finals, answering that it was Corinthians.
In another post, the club shared a video of colorado fans celebrating in the away section of Neo Química Arena, stating that they silenced Itaquera and won on the field, in support, and on the shirt.
