Juventus will keep Polish striker Arkadiusz Milik at the club for the remainder of the season instead of selling him during the current transfer window.
Journalist Nicolo Schira reported that manager Luciano Spalletti has been impressed by the work Milik completed during pre season preparation. Spalletti now views the 32-year-old forward as the third choice striker in his squad.
Milik earned his place in the squad after scoring a goal during a pre season friendly match against Palermo. He currently ranks behind French forward Randal Kolo Muani and Canadian striker Jonathan David in the attacking hierarchy at Juventus.
The Polish international moved to Juventus in 2022 and has since made 77 appearances while scoring 17 goals for the club. Before arriving in Turin, the experienced striker built his reputation with spells at Dutch club Ajax in Amsterdam, Italian side Napoli, and French team Marseille.
Injury struggles and squad role
Injuries have significantly limited the striker's playing time in recent seasons. Milik was sidelined from May 2024 until March of this year, missing a major portion of competitive matches before making his return to first team action.
Milik sat on the substitutes bench during the opening two Serie A fixtures of the season against Frosinone and Parma without coming onto the pitch. It cannot be ruled out that the Polish striker will receive opportunities in domestic cup matches, such as the Coppa Italia, if he stays healthy.
Upcoming Serie A fixtures
Juventus return to domestic league action on September 6 at 20:45 when they face rivals Milan in a key Serie A fixture. Milik will be hoping to make his first appearance of the campaign during the match.
Juventus, traditionally known as the Old Lady of Italian football, are based in Turin and compete in Serie A. The club had previously looked likely to part ways with Milik before his strong pre season performances raised the possibility of him remaining in Turin for longer.
