The New York Knicks will raise their NBA championship banner on October 20, before hosting the Philadelphia 76ers and LeBron James at Madison Square Garden to open the 2026-27 season.

The game will also feature Jaylen Brown for Philadelphia and Jalen Brunson for New York.

Opening night schedule

The Knicks-76ers game is the second of three games on opening day. Earlier, at 4 p.m. Brasilia time, the Boston Celtics visit the Detroit Pistons. At 10:30 p.m., Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs host the Oklahoma City Thunder in a rematch of last season's Western Conference finals.

Christmas Day games

The NBA also released its five-game Christmas Day schedule. The headline matchup is James facing his former team, the Los Angeles Lakers, now as a member of the 76ers.

The Christmas slate opens at noon Brasilia time with the Spurs against the Knicks. The Miami Heat then face the Celtics, the 76ers visit the Lakers, and the Thunder take on the Minnesota Timberwolves. The day closes with the Denver Nuggets facing the Golden State Warriors in San Francisco.
