Liverpool have no intention of selling Cody Gakpo this summer, despite Tottenham Hotspur making their interest in the forward known.
The Reds are working on a deal for Paris Saint-Germain's Bradley Barcola, valued at £145 million, as they look to add attacking quality rather than lose it. Gakpo, 27, is contracted until 2030, and with market prices rising for players of his experience, it would take a huge sum to change Liverpool's stance.
The Dutchman had a weaker season than usual last time out, scoring nine goals, though he remains highly valued at Anfield. His best season, 2024-25, brought 18 goals. Liverpool paid PSV Eindhoven £44 million for Gakpo in 2022.
Liverpool have already lost Mohamed Salah this summer, and their only attacking signing so far has been winger Victor Munoz from Osasuna for £34.5 million.
Tottenham's summer spending
Tottenham are also monitoring Omar Marmoush at Manchester City and negotiating for Savinho. Spurs have focused their summer business on defence and midfield, signing goalkeeper Martin Dubravka on a free transfer from Burnley, and defenders Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi for nothing from Liverpool and Bournemouth respectively.
Their biggest defensive purchase has been Jan Paul van Hecke, signed from Brighton for £52 million. In midfield, they have signed Sandro Tonali from Newcastle United for £100 million and Mateus Fernandes from relegated West Ham United for £85 million. Signing Gakpo could take Roberto De Zerbi's summer spend close to or beyond £300 million.
Other Liverpool academy interest
Liverpool forward Keyrol Figueroa, 19, is attracting interest from Barnsley and Salford City after impressing for the under-21s during a recent camp in Slovakia and scoring in a friendly against Cardiff City on Saturday. Defender Wellity Lucky returned from injury at the weekend and will also be loaned out, while Cardiff want Liverpool left-back Calum Scanlon on loan.
