A large blue-and-yellow macaw parrot interrupted a Brazilian U-15 youth football match between Flamengo and Ceara in Rio de Janeiro by attacking players, The Sun reported. The bird appeared on the pitch in the 17th minute of the game.
The macaw, a species common in South America, swooped down on a Flamengo defender, who fell onto the turf in surprise. The parrot then chased other teenage players across the field, forcing the referee to halt play until the bird flew away. A quarter of an hour later, the parrot returned and landed on the pitch again, causing a second stoppage.
Footage shared online noted that the enraged bird was clearly not a fan of Flamengo. Despite the disruptions, Ceara won the match 2-1.
Women's Tour de France Bra Controversy
In another sporting disruption, a scandal erupted at the Women's Tour de France over suspected bra manipulation. Several teams complained to organizers that riders were using special inserts to improve aerodynamics.
Although International Cycling Union rules forbid artificial equipment modifications, the ban is rarely enforced in practice. Race organizers announced they will inspect athletes 10 minutes before the start of each stage.
