Manchester United are monitoring Newcastle United left back Lewis Hall but acknowledge a transfer would be difficult to complete, according to reports.
United are entering the new season with Luke Shaw, who has one year remaining on his contract, as their only recognised senior left-back option. Harry Amass can provide cover but has been told he would be better off seeking first-team opportunities elsewhere.
Hall, 21, has three years left on his Newcastle contract and would command a substantial fee. Newcastle are focused on stabilising their squad once manager Matthias Jaissle is fully in place.
United are still assessing the market before deciding their next priority signing. A midfielder is high on their list, while any move for a forward depends on Marcus Rashford leaving. Despite interest from other clubs, Rashford is currently expected to start the season at Old Trafford.
