A 17-year-old Moroccan migrant was rescued safe and sound after hiding under the Real Valladolid team bus during a 100-kilometer journey from Ceuta.
The teenager climbed beneath the team vehicle and positioned himself on an axle between the wheels prior to departure, following a 1-1 draw between host side AD Ceuta and visiting club Real Valladolid in a Spanish second-tier match over the weekend.
In perilous conditions, the minor managed to leave the North African enclave by sea aboard a ferry at 9:30 p.m. before disembarking at the port of the Bay of Algeciras on the Spanish mainland.
Discovery near Jerez de la Frontera
The coach driver remained unaware of the stowaway as the vehicle traveled more than 100 kilometers across the Iberian Peninsula for over an hour. The teenager began shouting for help after the convoy passed the city of Jerez de la Frontera.
Players, coaching staff, and the driver from Real Valladolid heard his cries and discovered the young Moroccan beneath the coach. An ambulance subsequently transported him safe and sound to a hospital for medical treatment, supervised by officers from the Guardia Civil.
