Newcastle United goalkeeper Lukas Hornicek has completed his medical in Spain ahead of a £25.7 million move to the club. Newcastle activated the 24-year-old Czech’s release clause and he travelled to La Manga on Saturday. He is set to become the club’s new first-choice goalkeeper.
Chelsea complete Barco signing
Chelsea have signed Argentina midfielder Valentin Barco from sister club Strasbourg on a seven-year contract. The 22-year-old sparked controversy when his celebrations of Argentina’s World Cup victory over England provoked an angry reaction from Jude Bellingham.
Barco previously made six Premier League appearances for Brighton. His arrival follows Marc Cucurella’s departure to Real Madrid earlier this summer. Chelsea are also in negotiations with Rayo Vallecano over left wing back Pep Chavarria after making an improved offer.
Bournemouth land Sevilla full-back
Bournemouth have agreed an £11.2 million deal to sign right-back Juanlu Sanchez from Sevilla, structured as £9.5 million with up to £1.7 million in add-ons. Sevilla retain a 10 per cent sell-on clause.
The 22-year-old Spain international, who holds four senior caps, also attracted interest from Everton. Bournemouth moved quickly after Alex Jimenez departed for Fiorentina.
Ipswich close in on Luis
Ipswich Town are closing in on a £16 million signing of Burnley midfielder Florentino Luis. Hull City had been in advanced talks to take the 26-year-old Portuguese on an initial loan, but Hull boss Sergej Jakirovic conceded over the weekend that his side would likely miss out to a club willing to sign him on a permanent basis.
Hull lead race for Norwegian teenager
Hull City are leading the chase for 20-year-old Norwegian midfielder Jens Hjerto-Dahl from Tromso, fending off interest from Rangers and Cardiff City. Cardiff offered a club record fee for the 6ft 4in defensive midfielder, but Hull are offering him Premier League football.
Hjerto-Dahl has captained Norway at youth level and is a current under-21 international. Hull are also advancing in talks for 18-year-old centre-back Lucas Herrington from Colorado Rapids and winger Mohamed-Ali Cho from Nice.
West Ham join Parrott pursuit
West Ham have entered the race for AZ Alkmaar striker Troy Parrott, joining Como, Ajax, PSV Eindhoven and Real Betis in making enquiries. The former Tottenham academy product scored 31 goals last season. Alkmaar are reluctant to sell the 24-year-old Republic of Ireland international to a rival Dutch club.
Walsh loan move targeted
Wigan Athletic want Chelsea midfielder Reggie Walsh on loan. Walsh became Chelsea’s youngest player to feature in the Champions League last season and is looking to build on that breakthrough with more competitive minutes in the 2026-27 campaign.
