Santos forward Neymar was involved in a furious tunnel altercation with Remo officials after his team secured a 1-0 Brazilian Cup victory on Tuesday night.
The win at Mangueirao Stadium sent Santos into the Copa do Brasil quarter-finals, courtesy of Rony's winning goal in the 74th minute.
Social media footage posted on Wednesday morning showed the 34-year-old screaming inside the tunnel on his way to the dressing room. Neymar hurled expletives at Remo directors, repeatedly shouted the word 'eliminated', and taunted rivals with gestures at the dressing room entrance.
Another video showed Remo delegates swearing and gesticulating back at Neymar as he goaded them from behind barriers. The reason for the argument is not yet known.
Santos contract and retirement plans
Ahead of the match, Neymar admitted he could end his playing career in December when his contract at Santos expires. The forward is considering retirement after stepping away from international football last month, when he broke down in tears on the pitch following Brazil's World Cup exit.
Neymar returned to boyhood club Santos from Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal in January 2025, scoring 14 goals in 29 league appearances so far. He was widely regarded as one of the greatest footballers of his generation during his time at Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain.
Speaking in a video posted to his YouTube channel on Monday, Neymar addressed his future. "I'm not thinking about stopping, nor do I know how long I'll carry on," Neymar said.
"I have a contract with Santos until December. I intend to see it through, to honour the Santos shirt as best I can, and then I'll think about it when my contract ends... whether I stay at Santos, move on, stop playing or carry on," he said. "I really don't know what I'm going to do. There's still a long way to go until December, so let's take it one step at a time."
