Olympiacos Host Jagiellonia in Europa League Opener

Olympiacos will host Jagiellonia Bialystok on Wednesday, September 16, at 22:00 at the Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium in Piraeus, in the opening matchday of the UEFA Europa League League Phase. The match will be shown live in Greece on ANT1 and streamed on antenna.gr.

The game marks a fresh start for Olympiacos following the end of Jose Luis Mendilibar's spell as head coach. The Spaniard has been succeeded by his compatriot Imanol Alguacil, who takes the Piraeus club into a European campaign for the first time.

New coach, new arrivals

This year's Europa League is played in a League Phase format, in which each club faces a set of different opponents in a single table before the knockout stage begins.

Alongside the change on the bench, the squad includes several new faces added during a busy summer transfer window. Supporters at Karaiskakis are expected to turn out in force to see new signings including Bailey, Puerta, Gonzalez, Sa, Zota and Freuler up close for the first time.

Jagiellonia's European pedigree

Jagiellonia Bialystok, the visiting Polish side, are described as a capable opponent with a consistent recent presence in European competition.
