Paris FC and Lyon, coached by Portuguese manager Paulo Fonseca, missed the chance to join the leading pair at the top of France's Ligue 1 after playing out a goalless draw against each other on Saturday in the competition's fourth round.
The result in the French capital came after leaders Monaco had already drawn 1-1 away at Strasbourg, coached by Hugo Oliveira. With Paris FC and Lyon unable to find a breakthrough, both clubs remained unbeaten but dropped points for the second time this season.
Monaco holds top spot
The draw left Monaco top of the table on 10 points, level with Rennes. Paris FC and Lyon sit two points behind on 8, while Lille have 7 points, level with Strasbourg. Lille had not yet played by Saturday evening and were due to face Troyes on Sunday.
Ligue 1 is the top flight of French football and includes some of Europe's most recognisable clubs, among them reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain, Monaco and Lyon.
Auxerre end wait for first win
On a day when draws dominated across the division, Auxerre were the only side to win, and in doing so collected their first points of the season. Auxerre beat Nice 1-0, sending Nice down to 18th and last place on two points, while Auxerre climbed to 13th with three points.
English forward Cameron Archie scored the winning goal in the 74th minute. Before the match, Auxerre had been the only team in the division without a single point.
Alongside Nice, several other clubs are still searching for their first win of the campaign: Toulouse, who sit 17th, Le Havre in 16th, defending champions Paris Saint-Germain in 15th, and Le Mans in 14th. Paris Saint-Germain and Le Mans have each played one fewer match than their rivals.
Draws for Le Havre and Toulouse
Le Havre were held 0-0 at home by Angers, who sit ninth and fielded Portuguese goalkeeper Anthony Lopes in their starting lineup. Lopes has long been recognised as one of Portugal's leading goalkeepers.
Toulouse came from two goals down to draw 2-2 away at Lorient, who occupy eighth place in the table. Toulouse had trailed 2-0 before fighting back to share the points.
