Paris Saint-Germain has agreed to sign 23-year-old goalkeeper Zion Suzuki, who stood out playing for Japan at this year's World Cup. According to French newspaper RMC Sport, the French club will pay 35 million euros, about 206.3 million reals, to Italian side Parma. Suzuki is expected to sign a five-year contract with Paris Saint-Germain.
Paris Saint-Germain targeted Suzuki due to his potential to develop into a future starting goalkeeper and his marketing appeal in Asia. The French club wants to expand its presence in the region, particularly in Japan, where Suzuki's arrival fits into its commercial strategy.
Possible loan to Juventus
Juventus has emerged as a potential loan destination for Suzuki so he can gain more playing time. The Italian club also competed with Paris Saint-Germain to sign the goalkeeper, but is now open to receiving him on loan to give him regular minutes.
Suzuki gained global prominence following strong performances at the World Cup, notably against Brazil in the round of 32. He was developed by Urawa Red Diamonds and joined Parma in 2024 after spending a season playing in Belgian football.
