Peru's national tennis team will face Paraguay on Friday, September 18, and Saturday, September 19, in a Davis Cup World Group I series at the Jockey Club del Peru in Lima, as the hosts look to book a place in the Qualifiers for the 2027 Davis Cup. Captained by Luis "Lucho" Horna, the Peruvian squad will be led by its top-ranked player, Ignacio Buse.
The tie will be played in front of a packed Jockey Club, with Buse returning to action on home soil weeks after winning the ATP 250 title in Winston-Salem and competing in the main draw of the 2026 US Open, one of tennis' four Grand Slam tournaments.
Buse said the team had every hope of getting through the series and putting Peru on the world tennis map, describing it as a dream the squad wanted to turn into reality. He made the comments during the presentation of the Peruvian team.
The Davis Cup is the leading international team competition in men's tennis, contested annually by national squads. World Group I is the tier of the competition below the Davis Cup Finals, the tournament's top level. A win over Paraguay in this series would move Peru closer to a spot in next year's Qualifiers. Horna is a former professional player who competed on the ATP Tour and now captains the Peruvian team.

TV coverage and tickets
No broadcaster has yet been confirmed to televise the series. Organizers have not ruled out coverage on TV Peru, channel 7, which carried the tie in 2025. According to Ticketmaster's website, tickets for the Peru vs Paraguay series are already sold out.
