Marcus Rashford has posted a farewell message to Barcelona fans as he prepares to return to Manchester United following a season-long loan at the Nou Camp.
The England international contributed 14 goals and 14 assists during the spell, with Barcelona winning La Liga and reaching the quarter-finals of the Champions League. Despite that form, the club chose not to trigger an option to buy Rashford from United for £26m before a mid-June deadline, signing Newcastle's Anthony Gordon instead for £70m.
Rashford posted a photograph of his No.14 shirt and another of him in action for the club, writing that he was extremely grateful to everyone at the club for making his time there a positive and unforgettable experience. He added that he wished the club and all its fans every success in the coming season, signing off with the Catalan phrase Visca Barca.
Rashford is now expected to rejoin United, where he holds a contract until June 2028 worth around £315,000 a week. It is unclear whether he will take part in United's training camp in Ireland next month, which includes a friendly against Leeds at Croke Park on August 12.
United had initially sought £40m for Rashford this summer but found no club willing to meet that figure. The window closes on September 1.
