Real Madrid have tabled a final contract offer to Vinicius Jr and will not negotiate further, according to Marca, with the Spanish club prepared to sell the Brazilian forward this summer if he turns it down.

Vinicius, 26, has been in talks with Madrid over a new deal, but senior figures at the club have refused to meet his demands to be paid on a par with Kylian Mbappe, the team's top earner.

Madrid still regard Vinicius as a key figure but will not disrupt their wage structure to keep him. Manager Jose Mourinho has telephoned the player personally to tell him he wants him to stay. Vinicius has been absent from pre-season training while his representatives continue talks with the club.

Discussions led by Roc Nation have focused on Vinicius's commercial value. Under his current contract he hands around 50 per cent of publicity-deal revenue to the club, and during the World Cup he held deals with 15 multinational sponsors, a number surpassed only by Neymar.

Arsenal, the Premier League champions, have been alerted by his uncertain situation as they look to strengthen the left side of their attack. Some insiders at the club believe a deal is unlikely, but others want to keep pushing in case Madrid and Vinicius fail to agree. Vinicius is one of several forward targets Arsenal are exploring, along with Julian Alvarez, Yan Diomande and Bradley Barcola.
