Shakhtar Donetsk face Sporting on Tuesday in London for the fourth round of the UEFA Champions League league phase at Stamford Bridge.
The match is scheduled to kick off at 14:45 Brasilia time on November 3, 2026, during the 2026-27 European club campaign.
Both teams enter the contest on the back of domestic league victories. Shakhtar Donetsk secured a 2-0 win over Obolon-Brovar in the Ukrainian Championship.
Sporting also won their most recent domestic fixture. The Portuguese team defeated Casa Pia AC 2-0 in the Portuguese Championship.
Head to Head and Match Background
Sporting hold the advantage from the previous encounter between the two clubs. In their last meeting, the Portuguese side earned a 1-0 victory over Shakhtar.
Tuesday's fixture takes place at Stamford Bridge, the stadium in west London that serves as the permanent home of English Premier League club Chelsea. Shakhtar Donetsk, who originate from the industrial Donbas region of eastern Ukraine, have staged their European home matches at neutral venues across the continent due to the ongoing war in their home country.
Sporting, officially known as Sporting Clube de Portugal and based in Lisbon, arrive in the English capital as one of Portugal's traditional big three clubs alongside domestic rivals Benfica and Porto.
Champions League Format
The fixture forms part of the thirty-six team league phase of the UEFA Champions League, Europe's premier club competition. Under the single league table format, the top eight teams automatically qualify for the round of 16, while teams finishing ninth to twenty-fourth enter a two-legged playoff round.
UEFA introduced the single league phase to replace the traditional four-team group stage, ensuring each qualified club plays eight matches against eight different opponents before the knockout rounds begin.
Broadcast and Viewing Details
Supporters can follow the contest across television, streaming, and online platforms. The game will be shown live on cable television channel TNT and streamed through the HBO Max service, while CNN Esportes will provide minute by minute real-time updates.
