Transfer fee and recruitment strategy

Scandinavian sources reported that the transfer fee totals 45 million Swedish kronor, which equals four million euros. The acquisition makes Oppong the joint third most expensive signing for Toulouse FC since American investment firm RedBird Capital Partners acquired the club in the summer of 2020. He ties with Serbian winger Veljko Birmancevic, who signed from Malmo on September 1, 2022. Only Aron Donnum from Standard Liege in 2023 and Charlie Cresswell from Leeds United in 2024 cost more, at 4.5 million euros each.

Oppong is the third signing of the summer transfer window for Toulouse FC. He follows full-backs Ismail Diallo and Christ Tape, who joined the squad at the start of pre-season training. The move fits the stated strategy of Toulouse FC to find emerging talent in less exposed markets.

Player profile and Brommapojkarna background

The full name of the attacker is Sion Uno Kobi Oppong. He stands 1.80 meters tall, weighs 71 kilograms, is right-footed, and is of Ghanaian heritage. He turned professional at age 17 before making his senior debut one month later in February 2025.

Oppong developed at the academy of IF Brommapojkarna, located in the western suburbs of Stockholm. The Swedish club claims to be the largest in Europe, with around 4,000 registered players. Seven players in the 26-man Sweden squad selected by English manager Graham Potter for the last World Cup passed through the academy, including Arsenal striker Viktor Gyokeres. Toulouse FC previously negotiated with the Stockholm club in December 2024 to sign Swedish defender Oliver Zanden.

Playing style and statistics

Oppong made his debut for the Sweden Under-21 team in March 2026, earning one cap. Born on September 25, 2007, he has been described in Swedish media reports as a major prospect and a raw diamond.

During the current Allsvenskan season, Oppong played 14 matches, scoring two goals and delivering one assist. He plays as an inverted left winger, using quickness, acceleration, and dribbling ability to cut inside or run into space. He also offers hold-up play and aerial presence. He will wear the number 11 shirt for Toulouse FC.

Role in the Toulouse squad

Oppong becomes the ninth Swedish player in the history of Toulouse FC. Former Swedish striker Johan Elmander previously played for the club between 2006 and 2008.

New Danish head coach Jens Berthel Askou will lead the development of the young winger. Oppong joins an attack that recently lost number 9 striker Emersonn and did not retain winger Cissoko. Current Toulouse attackers Yann Gboho and Aron Donnum also face potential departures before the transfer window closes.
