Sunderland goalkeeper Anthony Patterson is expected to undergo a medical at Wrexham today after the two clubs agreed a fee of around £8 million.
Sunderland are looking at Ipswich Town's Alex Palmer as a possible replacement. The 29-year-old is valued at around £2 million. Patterson, 26, is a former England Under-21 international who spent last season on loan at Millwall.
Sunderland departures
Sunderland defender Arthur Masuaku is finalising a move to Turkish club Konyaspor after the two clubs agreed a deal over the weekend. Masuaku joined Sunderland last summer and spent the second half of last season on loan at Lens. Belgian club Mechelen have also agreed a deal to sign Sunderland defender Leo Hjelde.
Hull seek goalkeeper cover
Hull City are looking to secure further goalkeeping cover after summer signing Jack Butland was found to have an arm injury that could keep him out for 12 weeks. Butland was hurt in training on Friday, before Hull flew to Frankfurt for a friendly, and is expected to need surgery. Hull could sign a goalkeeper on loan until at least January.
Hull's other new goalkeeper, Konstantinos Tzolakis, made his debut in a 2-0 defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt and is expected to start the Premier League opener against Manchester United, with Dillon Phillips providing cover. Hull used 25 players against Frankfurt, including debutant Jens Hjerto-Dahl. Their final friendly is against Ligue 1 side Nice.
Stroud signing completed
Hull also completed the £3 million signing of Sweden international Elliot Stroud from Mjallby. The 24-year-old wing-back, who played in all four of Sweden's matches at the 2026 World Cup, signed a four-year contract with an option for a fifth year.
