Toulouse beat Real Sociedad 2-1 in Tarbes friendly

Toulouse FC claimed their first victory of the preseason on Friday evening, beating La Liga side Real Sociedad 2-1 in a friendly played in Tarbes, in the heart of the Pyrenees.

The French club had drawn 1-1 with RAF Montauban the previous week. Against a side that finished tenth in Spain’s top flight last May, two goals before half-time proved enough for Toulouse to take the win.

Vignolo opened the scoring in the 32nd minute, finishing inside the box. Real Sociedad levelled three minutes later through a free kick from former Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Carlos Soler. Hidalgo then restored Toulouse’s lead deep into first-half stoppage time with another close-range finish.

The second half was less intense, with both teams making numerous changes after the hour mark and the pitch deteriorating. Coach Jens Berthel Askou again used a 4-2-3-1 formation, which held firm defensively and showed attacking intent.

Toulouse’s next preseason fixture is on Wednesday 5 August in Murcia, Spain, against Al-Ain.
