Real Madrid winger Yan Diomande has stated he is ready to give everything for new manager José Mourinho following his transfer to Spain. The Ivorian international explained that playing under the Portuguese manager requires complete commitment because of his distinct character and demanding style.
Speaking in an interview with SportyTV, reported by news agency Europa Press, the former RB Leipzig player insisted he feels no pressure despite reports putting his transfer fee at more than 120 million euros. Diomande said the club spent significant money on him because they believe in his abilities, adding that he intends to work hard on the pitch to repay that faith.

Talks with Mourinho and Calafat
Diomande revealed that learning of interest from Real Madrid felt like a dream, admitting that he could not sleep after receiving the initial contact from the 15-time European champions. He disclosed that he spoke first with Real Madrid chief scout Juni Calafat before receiving an early morning telephone call directly from Mourinho.
The winger expressed surprise that Mourinho spoke French during their conversation. He noted that Mourinho woke up at 5:00 a.m. in Portugal specifically to speak with him, an action that made Diomande feel valued and convinced him to complete the move to Madrid.
Dressing room relationships and idols
Reflecting on his transition to the squad, Diomande confessed that Brazilian forward Vinícius Júnior is currently the only team-mate he is close with in the dressing room, having spoken to him prior to completing the transfer. However, he emphasized that everyone at the club has been welcoming and friendly, describing the squad environment as positive.
Diomande also spoke about his admiration for Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, calling him his footballing idol. He expressed pride at joining the same club where Ronaldo established his legacy, describing his arrival at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium as a long-held dream that still feels unbelievable.
Handling the transfer fee
Despite the substantial expectations surrounding his arrival, Diomande maintained that he is calm regarding his price tag. He noted that having a strong team around him removes any fear, stressing that he aims to demonstrate his true worth through his performances on the pitch.
The Ivorian attacker added that playing at the newly renovated stadium is a thrilling experience, noting that he had never been inside the venue prior to his move. He said he is eager to score his first goal in front of the home supporters.
Looking to the future, Diomande asserted that his long-term goal is to become the best player in the world. He stated that this ambition has remained unchanged since the start of his career and that he will continue to pursue it daily through hard work, humility, and self-confidence.
