Football agent Diomansy Kamara has accused clubs of failing to respect African players after transfer moves for Ismaila Sarr and Lamine Camara failed on deadline day.
Kamara, who previously played in the Premier League for Portsmouth, West Bromwich Albion and Fulham, launched a scathing attack on social media hours after the transfer window closed on Wednesday morning.
Senegal international winger Sarr ended up remaining at Crystal Palace despite interest from Liverpool and Galatasaray, while midfielder Camara saw a £47million transfer from Monaco to Chelsea collapse at the 11th hour after the French club pulled out of the deal.
Accusations over treatment of African players
Speaking out on his Instagram story on Wednesday morning, Kamara called for football to re-evaluate how it treats African stars during transfer windows.
"The cases of Ismaila Sarr and Lamine Camara must all interrogate us," Kamara wrote in his post.
"We have to get out of this logic where the African player can sometimes give the feeling that he is just a commodity: you buy it, you set its price, you negotiate its future and, too often, your will seems to go to the background."
Kamara argued that players deserve to have a voice when decisions about their careers are being made by executive figures at top clubs.
"Our African players deserve respect. The respect of their work. The respect of their career. Respecting their ambitions. The respect of their voices," he continued.
"A transfer shouldn't just be a matter of two clubs and numbers. Behind every contract, there's a man, a career, dreams and life choices."
He acknowledged that clubs hold ultimate power in negotiations under current professional football realities, but questioned whether player welfare is being ignored.
"The fact that clubs can sometimes have the final word is a reality of professional football. But one question remains: what about the career and the will of the player?" Kamara added.
"The player must be able to be heard and respected in the decisions that determine his future. Let's never forget what's important: behind every success, it's the players who write history first."
Collapse of Chelsea deadline day transfer
The failed transfer of Camara to Chelsea proved to be one of the most dramatic stories of transfer deadline day.
Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso had been eager to bolster his midfield options following the departure of Enzo Fernandez to Manchester City in a British record £125million deal.
With less than two hours remaining before the 11pm deadline, Chelsea believed they had successfully negotiated a £47million agreement with Monaco for Camara.
Sources at Stamford Bridge stated that a full, written, club-to-club contract had been finalized between the two teams.
However, as the deadline drew near, Monaco unexpectedly withdrew from the agreement after negotiations to sell striker Folarin Balogun to Everton broke down.
Chelsea officials were left furious by the late collapse, with Stamford Bridge insiders describing Monaco's conduct as deeply unprofessional.

Monaco sporting director Thiago Scuro defended the French team's actions during a press conference on Wednesday, describing the decision to cancel the deal as part of the game.
Scuro confirmed that Alonso had spoken directly with Camara, who expressed a clear desire to join Chelsea before Monaco pulled the plug on the transaction.
According to Scuro, Monaco informed Camara that the club would secure a major transfer for him very soon and suggested that even better transfer options could emerge than those available on deadline day.
Scuro insisted that despite his understandable disappointment at missing out on a move to the Premier League, Camara remains fully committed and professional in his role at Monaco.
