Arsenal Lose 3-1 to Real Betis in Pre-Season Friendly

English champions Arsenal lost 3-1 to Spanish side Real Betis in a pre-season friendly at Dublin Arena in Ireland on Wednesday afternoon. Rodrigo Riquelme opened the scoring for Betis in the ninth minute before Nelson Deossa added a second goal in the 26th minute.

Piero Hincapié scored for Arsenal in the 32nd minute to reduce the deficit. Pablo Fornals then closed the scoring for the Spanish club in the 43rd minute of the first half.

Arsenal Squad Choices

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta selected a lineup almost entirely made up of youth academy players. The starting team included only a few senior players, namely Kepa Arrizabalaga, Ben White, Riccardo Calafiori, Viktor Gyokeres, and Kai Havertz.

Brazilians Gabriel Magalhães and Gabriel Jesus only came onto the pitch during the second half of the match.

Boos for Antony

Brazilian forward Antony, who recorded 14 goals and ten assists for Real Betis last season, entered midway through the second half. Part of the crowd inside the stadium booed him during his appearance.

The protest from supporters was linked to the player's previous time with English club Manchester United.

Real Betis will play their next match against English side Bournemouth on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. Brasília time. The fixture will take place at the Estadio de La Cartuja in Seville, Spain.
