Arsenal begin their Premier League title defence against Coventry at the Emirates Stadium on Friday night following a dominant pre-season display against Manchester City.
Mikel Arteta's side took the lead just 24 seconds into the match and relentlessly attacked Pep Guardiola's team throughout the contest, demonstrating a renewed belief after lifting the league trophy last season.
The victory showcased a marked shift in momentum for North London club Arsenal, who had spent three years enduring psychological scars, second-place finishes, and taunts from City before claiming the Premier League title.

Rather than retreating after their early goal, Arsenal maintained a ravenous tempo to keep City under constant pressure ahead of their season opener.
Martin Odegaard leads from the front
Captain Martin Odegaard typified Arsenal's high-intensity approach with an authoritative performance in midfield, pressing relentlessly and threading incisive passes through the opposition defence.
The Norwegian midfielder capped his display with a goal on 48 minutes, taking just three touches to dumbfound City defender Josko Gvardiol and goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.
Odegaard's commanding display came after a stop-and-start campaign last year in which he missed five or six months due to shoulder and knee injuries.
Despite background calls from some supporters for England midfielder Declan Rice to assume the captaincy, Arteta reiterated his full backing for the 24-year-old Norwegian international.
"Well, he missed five or six months for different things and it was extremely difficult for him to get any momentum," Arteta said after the match. "If we can maintain him fit, available with the players around him, we're going to see a very different Martin."
"I sensed from the first day he joined that he has something else in the belly that he wants to prove and show, because the team needs it as well," Arteta added.

Arteta also demonstrated Arsenal's squad depth during the second half, introducing Rice at half-time before bringing on Bukayo Saka and Piero Hincapie on 60 minutes.
Christos Tzolis shines on the wing
New signing Christos Tzolis continued his fine pre-season form, setting up two goals on the left wing after joining the club for £34million to replace Leandro Trossard.
The 24-year-old Greek winger provided a headed assist for Kai Havertz after peeling away from a defender, before playing an accurate pass to set Odegaard on the way to scoring.
Tzolis has now registered six goal contributions across six pre-season matches, offering a potent attacking option for an Arsenal side playing without a traditional 25-goal-a-season striker.
Initially earmarked as a squad player who would knock on the first-team door in coming seasons, Tzolis has seized his opportunity to press for a starting spot while Arsenal evaluate further transfer options.

Squad omissions fuel transfer speculation
The matchday squad was also notable for the absence of three high-profile attacking players: Ethan Nwaneri, Gabriel Martinelli, and Gabriel Jesus.
Nwaneri has attracted transfer interest from various clubs, while Martinelli has been the subject of a £38million bid from Turkish side Galatasaray.
Gabriel Jesus is currently the closest of the trio to leaving the Emirates Stadium as the Brazilian forward edges toward a move to Italian club Napoli.
Arteta played down suggestions that their absence was directly linked to potential departures, pointing instead to fitness levels and Premier League squad size restrictions.
"There's nothing to do with that," Arteta stated regarding transfer talk. "It's just a fact that we can bring 18 outfield players and we believe that for today's game, these were the options that we needed, especially with the physical condition of certain players."
Speaking to TNT Sports, Arteta added: "It's really sad to not have the availability. I've been fighting with the Premier League to get more in the squad. Hopefully we can change that rule so players can be part of the squad. They're very important for us."

Despite Arteta's explanations, the omission of all three players highlights potential roster movement before the transfer window closes as Arsenal prepare to defend their title.
