A dead body was discovered at Charlton Athletic's home stadium, The Valley, on Tuesday morning following an incident early on Monday, the club announced in a statement.
Emergency services were called to the ground on Tuesday after the male was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. Police are now investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.
Charlton Athletic confirmed they are supporting police with their enquiries after the individual was found at the stadium on Tuesday morning.
In an official statement released on Tuesday evening, the club said: "Police were called to the stadium today after an incident that occurred in the early hours of Monday morning. A male was sadly pronounced dead at the scene."
The club added: "The death remains under investigation. Anyone with information, or who may have witnessed the incident, is asked to contact police on 101, quoting reference 2809/18AUG."

Charlton Athletic confirmed there is no suggestion of any wrongdoing on the part of the club, adding that officials are continuing to assist authorities with their investigation.
"Everyone at Charlton Athletic would like to express their deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences to the individual's family, friends and loved ones at this incredibly difficult time," the club statement said.
"The club are continuing to assist the authorities with their enquiries and respectfully ask that the privacy of those affected is respected."
The club also praised stadium staff for their response to the discovery. "Charlton Athletic would also like to thank its staff for the professionalism they have shown while dealing with a particularly difficult and distressing situation," the statement continued.

Charlton Athletic are an English professional football club based in South East London. The team competes in the EFL Championship, the second tier of the English football league system, and plays its home matches at The Valley in Charlton.
The incident occurred shortly after Charlton played at The Valley on Saturday, when the team beat Derby County 2-1 in their opening Championship match of the season.
