The girlfriend of new Chelsea full-back Pep Chavarria was left rattled after a tense standoff with a squirrel during one of her first days living in London, and recounted the ordeal to her 1.1 million TikTok followers.

Influencer Pawgli, 27, who has been dating the £18million defender since November, said a 50-minute walk to get her nails done in London ended up taking an hour and a half because of the encounter.

"How a 50-minute walk ended up taking an hour and a half... because of a squirrel," she began in the TikTok video.

The squirrel encounter

Pawgli explained that she and Chavarria are still living in a hotel because the club will not hand over their house until the 28th. Google Maps showed the walk to the nail salon would take 50 minutes, so she decided to go on foot to get to know the area.

"I had been walking for 45 minutes, okay? Because it took me through places that were just woods, woods, woods, and surrounded by lakes... super pretty landscapes, yes, but all forest, as if I were in the Hansel and Gretel movie," she said.

With 20 minutes left to reach the salon, and the edge of the forest in sight, she came across a squirrel standing still in the middle of the path. "Staring at me like this... I asked ChatGPT, 'Do squirrels attack?' And it said, 'Yes.' And I... backed away," she said.

She said ChatGPT told her to "wait until it leaves and don't pass through there". She waited for around 10 to 15 minutes, but the squirrel would not move, so she turned back and found another route, also through forest, which recalculated her journey to an hour and a half instead of 50 minutes.

The duo have been together since November last year but she may decide to continue the relationship long-distance

Who is Pawgli?

Pawgli, who has never revealed her real name, creates fashion, beauty and lifestyle content in Spanish and has built an audience of more than 1.1 million on TikTok. The nickname is thought to be based on Mowgli, the character from The Jungle Book.

She had been seriously weighing up whether to join Chavarria in London or continue their relationship long-distance from Madrid, where the squirrel population is said to have dwindled.

She broke down in tears, has described the situation as 'scary', and says she is 'panicking'

Weighing up the move

In one video, Pawgli broke down in tears over the decision. "By moving to London, I'm kind of giving up on doing 100 per cent of my job. He has his job, I have mine; he earns his money, I earn mine. Nobody lives off anyone else; I don't live off my boyfriend," she said.

"Therefore, by not living in Madrid, I'm losing opportunities - opportunities for me to keep growing in this - because absolutely everything is in Madrid," she added, saying she wanted to keep her Spanish-speaking audience rather than switch to English-language content.

Pawgli says she does not want to abandon her Spanish-speaking audience

"As someone who is ultra mega family-oriented and super sensitive, moving to a country I don't know, where I have nothing, no life, no job, and where I'm going to lose career opportunities... and I'm doing it out of love, because I love my partner and want to build a future and a family with him," she said.

Pawgli later denied that she had broken down in tears over the prospect of losing work and free events in Madrid, though in another video she indicated she remained in some turmoil about the move.

Chavarria's career

Chavarria is a late bloomer who did not make his LaLiga debut until he was 24, and has spent the last four seasons with Madrid-based club Rayo Vallecano before his £18million move to Chelsea.

Pawgli said she had a life she was fortunate to have built in Madrid. "I have my job in Madrid, which luckily is going very, very well. I have projects, I have all the brands I work with there, I have daily events, I have my sister, my family, my friends," she said.

"And I swear until recently I was completely convinced that I wasn't going to move in with him. He has his life in London right now, I have mine in Madrid... A long-distance relationship. Something I would've never considered in my life, but if one thing was clear to me, it's that I will never in my life depend on anyone or live off anyone. I have my own income, and that's how it'll always be," she said.

What comes next

Pawgli said she was "panicking" about the decision but also wanted to experience the move with Chavarria. "I also want to be able to experience this with Pep, because if I met my boyfriend and he's been here in Madrid for like 4 years and I met him, and precisely this year he has to go to London, maybe it's because fate also wants me to go," she said.

She added that she planned to keep making content wherever she ends up. "Because I'm obviously going to make content for you wherever I go, and being in London I can do even more, right? Because there are things there that aren't in Spain. I have a thousand ideas in my head because I can't stop thinking, honestly," she said.
